The Sant Jordi de Nadal festival has closed its ninth edition this weekend with more than 8,500 attendees according to Tresc, the organization of the literary initiative. The winter event has filled the Old Damm Factory in Barcelona with book stalls, writers, talks, various children’s activities and concerts. The most recognizable faces of the weekend were Adrià Alguacil, Marta Carnicero, Pere Francesch Rom, Marc Giró, Martà Gironell, Carme MartÃ, Arià Paco, Espartac Peran, Ana Polo, Sebastià Portell and Regina RodrÃguez.
“For the public it is a party and a market where they can recover the spirit of Sant Jordi, but thinking about Christmas gifts,” Pepe Zapata, director of Tresc, explained yesterday as a conclusion to the success of the ninth edition. In addition, he has also emphasized that this year the festival has focused on emerging authors and new literary talents.
Among the 30 activities that have been offered, the creation workshops for children, storytelling and the signing of the books by Geronimo and Tea Stilton have triumphed. Apart from the literary activities, the outdoor spaces of the Fà brica have been filled with gastronomic proposals and live music by Saüc en Flor, Gessamà Boada, Au Rora and Arnau Vives.
The fair has received the support of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat, the Institute of Culture of Barcelona City Council (ICUB), the Booksellers Guild and the Institute of Catalan Letters (ILC), as well as the sponsorship of Estrella Damm .
