“During the covid pandemic, we saw many people walking their pets and we began to study the market to start a business in this sector,” explain Jordi Díaz and Kevin Sánchez. What surprised them the most was seeing “how many dogs were wearing animal leather leashes,” adds Díaz. That’s how these two co-workers found their business idea: a vegan brand of everyday products for dogs.
Díaz and Sánchez founded Cafidepets at the end of 2021, ready to replicate the success of the company in which they met: the furniture brand Kave Home. “We have experienced the great growth of the company and we are applying what we have learned to Cafidepets,” says the first of the co-founders.
They define themselves as “a brand for activist dogs”. In addition to not using accessories of animal origin, they allocate 1% of sales to projects in defense of animals. The other great leg of the firm is its commitment to the design and quality of the products. This bet has led them to manufacture part of their products in China, for not having found what they wanted in Europe, although their intention is to produce as close as possible. For distribution they have a warehouse in Canet de Mar.
Cafidepets accessories went on sale about four months ago through its website and a store in Barcelona and another in Madrid, both from third parties. The co-founders have ambitions to become a leading European brand in designer dog accessories. In the short term, they expect to close their first twelve months of sales with a turnover of 250,000 euros. They have raised the company with their own capital.
