The expression that made a fortune in the presentation of the candidacy of Xavier Garcia Albiol for the municipal elections in May has now become the main motto of his pre-campaign. A year ago Albiol presented himself as a “Badalonista” in an act without PP symbols and this Thursday he presented the ‘Badalonismo’ campaign, which also flees from its acronym.
The popular ones have made a billboard in which the image of the candidate appears and the concept ‘Badalonismo’ on the colors that identify their political rivals. There is the red of the PSC, the yellow of ERC, the purple of the commons, the turquoise of Junts and also the blue of the PP. The only formation with representation in the consistory that they ignore is Guanyem, of the former mayor Dolors Sabater.
PP sources detail that it has been decided not to make any pink posters because the campaign focuses on the parties “with the greatest chances of obtaining representation” from the May elections. Although Guanyem currently has 4 councilors, the popular ones assure that the polls leave them out.
According to Albiol himself, the objective of the campaign is to capture votes “beyond ideologies” considering that the “transversality” of his project has allowed “erasing barriers” of acronyms, ideologies and colors. The campaign for 2023 contrasts with the controversial campaigns of previous elections.
In this sense, Albiol agrees to work in favor of the neighbors and asks the rest of the political rivals to do so instead of wanting to go “against whoever wins”, alluding to the post-electoral pacts of previous mandates. Albiol assures that defending Badalona is “neither from the right nor from the left”.
