Repeating the pattern of other visits, King Juan Carlos went out this Friday to sail in the waters of the estuary off the coast of Sanxenxo, after spending the first day of his stay in Galicia at home. Together with Infanta Elena, who these days will accompany his father, King Juan Carlos has arrived at the yacht club facilities, by car and with his host, Pedro Campos, and other companions from the crew of the Bribón. .
Inés Muiños, wife of Josep Cusí, one of King Juan Carlos’s dearest friends and regatta partner for decades, has also traveled from Barcelona to Sanxenxo to share these days of sailing with King Juan Carlos. The Cusí couple have shared with King Juan Carlos the passion for the sea and an indestructible friendship that has remained firm for years. In recent times, since the King’s father resides in Abu Dhabi, telephone contact has been constant and even more so in recent months, due to the delicate state of health of Josep Cusí, for whom King Juan Carlos professes intense affection. .
King Juan Carlos arrived in Spain last Wednesday, from Geneva (Switzerland), a city that he has been visiting frequently lately and where he plans to spend more time, at least during the summer given the high temperatures in Abu Dhabi. From the Swiss city, where his daughter Cristina and several of his friends and some of his relatives reside, the King’s father plans to travel to Sanxenxo almost every next few months. Until he says otherwise, Abu Dhabi will continue to be his official residence, and his fiscal residence, although his intention is to spend at least the spring and summer months in other places, mainly in Europe. The proximity to Spain is also important in the event that, due to his state of health, he chooses to return to Madrid.
Before flying to Vigo, King Juan Carlos made a technical stop in Vitoria to undergo a medical check-up at the clinic of Dr. Anitua, who is monitoring his evolution.
On Thursday he did not leave the house that Pedro Campos has in the Nanin neighborhood, in Sanxenxo, where he received a visit from some acquaintances, including the mayor of the town, Telmo Martín. This Friday, around 1 pm, King Juan Carlos arrived at the pier dressed in nautical attire that included a striking blue jacket, cap and sunglasses.
After being helped to go down the stairs that lead to the dock, King Juan Carlos sat down at the Bribón’s helm, next to Inés Muiños, where Infanta Elena took some photos of them before embarking herself on the Cristina, another 6M sailboat that this weekend will participate in the first round of the Spanish Championship of the 6M class.
