At least eight people have died after two fishing boats capsized off the coast of San Diego, California. The rescue work began during the early hours of this Saturday off the coast of Black Beach.
A 911 caller said they had been on a fishing boat with eight people that had washed ashore, but that there was another boat with 8 to 10 people on board that had capsized, a 911 caller reported. .
Consequently, an all-night rescue operation was launched off Black Beach. Emergency crews from agencies including the fire department, San Diego police, US Customs and Border Protection, and the US Coast Guard found two capsized fishing boats and dead bodies scattered in an area of approximately 400 yards (366 meters).
The teams found, in total, eight people dead, although the search efforts are still ongoing. Authorities are expected to update information on the incident in the coming hours.
