The Parc de la Mobba Platform in Badalona (Barcelonès Nord), which brings together the residents who live around the old factory, have once again appealed for help to the municipal government and warn that the state of degradation of the building can cause serious damage .
The residents affirm that “there is not a week that we do not have to call the Urban Police, several days”. From the façade “rocks” emerge, especially in the part of Eduard Maristany street with Dos de Maig, where they warn that “schoolchildren and passers-by in general circulate every day”. A few weeks ago the rubble damaged several parked cars.
In parallel, the neighbors assure that every week young people are entering with the intention of occupying the building, with the consequent danger. They also report that for a few weeks another person has lived between the fence and the façade, causing fetid odors caused by urine and excrement left outside. That area, they say, is also used as a garbage dump.
Those affected say that they once again have a plague of rats in the Mobba that “is spreading throughout the neighborhood.” The old factory, they say, is becoming more and more “a dunghill” and a risk of fire that, if it occurs, would affect the adjoining buildings.
As if this were not enough, they warn that the roof is covered with fiber cement in a state of deterioration, some 1,400 m2 “that we are constantly breathing”. They criticize that the City Council has not responded to their requests with the request that they solve the problem. “More than seven months without receiving a response regarding the fiber cement issue, which we believe is a priority,” they conclude.
For their part, municipal sources report that the situation of the old Mobba factory, located in the center of Badalona, ??has been prosecuted since October 2021. The government awaits the judicial resolution to be able to define the future of the space. “We are aware of the precarious situation in which the factory and its surroundings find themselves.” For this reason, they assure that they will carry out some actions that the law allows, to improve safety and coexistence in the environment.
According to the residents, the judicialization, which the current mayor of Badalona, ??the socialist Rubén Guijarro, alleges, “is not a reason for not carrying out some actions” that could minimize these serious problems and thus prevent them from causing irreparable damage.
