I took these photographs for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia focusing on the apple tree, which are not all almond trees in bloom at this time of the year, at least in the village of Tarròs, a locality incorporated into the municipality since the mid-19th century of Tornabous, in the Urgell region.
The apple tree is a tree of the Rosaceae family, cultivated for its fruit, the apple, which has been highly valued as food (it is a great source of vitamins) since ancient times.
In fact, its domestication seems to have started more than 15,000 years ago in the region to the west of the Tian Shan mountains, on the border between Kazakhstan and China.
It was introduced to Europe by the Romans and today there are about 1,000 varieties of crops as a result of innumerable hybridizations between wild forms.
Its flowers are hermaphroditic, with a calyx with five sepals, a corolla of 5 rounded white petals, often streaked with red or pink, with a millimeter nail and 20 stamens.
