The Table of Congress, meeting yesterday after completing the plenary session of the motion of no confidence against Pedro Sánchez, yesterday acknowledged receipt of the names of those who will be commissioned for the second investigation by Congress into the Catalonia operation.
The components will be the usual members of the Interior Commission and the deputies who already participated in the previous investigation of the Catalonia operation. Begoña Nasarre, Felipe Sicilia, David Serrada and Sonia Ferrer will be representing the PSOE. For the PP, Ana Belén Vázquez Blanco, Luis Santamaría and José Antonio Bermúdez de Castro. The Vox group will attend Javier Ortega-Smith, María Teresa López and Juan Carlos Segura.
As for the confederal group of Unidas Podemos, Enrique Santiago and Ismael Cortés; Pilar Vallugera and Gabriel Rufián will be the commissioners of the Republican group, and for the Basque group will be its spokesman, Aitor Esteban. Jose Maria Espejo-Saavedra will represent Citizens and for the mixed group, Albert Botran (CUP) and Carlos Garcia Adanero (exUPN). As for the plural group, the commissioner will be Junts spokesperson Miriam Nogueras.
In any case, it has not yet been decided when the commission will be constituted, in whose first session the proposals of appearing parties will begin to be discussed.
Congress has already opened a commission of investigation for the Catalonia operation and the activity of Jorge Fernández Díaz as Minister of the Interior in 2017, in whose conclusions approved, in plenary session, it was established that the minister “created a police structure aimed at hindering the investigation of the corruption scandals of the PP and the monitoring, investigation and, where appropriate, the persecution of political adversaries”, and in a singular way, “Catalan nationalism and Podemos”.
