The irony was primed with the mayor of Bilbao, Juan María Aburto, while he was on a bike route with other people from Bilbao to celebrate that there were only 100 days left before the arrival of the Tour de France in the Basque Country.
The mayor suffered a fall when he was already arriving at San Mamés to finish his tour. Fortunately, the mishap occurred at a very low speed and there were no other consequences. He was even able to take it with humor assuring that “here we fall and get up quickly” after the small incident.
Beyond the anecdote, the Basque Country is fully committed to making the 2023 Grand Depart a success. La Grande Boucle will leave the Basque Country for the second time in its history and will do so with three days of atypical demand for a prologue.
Vitoria-Gasteiz has already turned on yellow to discount the last 100 days that remain before the 2023 Tour de France begins and the region is really looking forward to cycling. There will be no fall that can stop the Tour phenomenon!
