Badalona has restarted the escalators on Fortuny Street, in the Sant Crist de Can Cabanyes neighborhood, and those located on Solsona Street, in the Pau neighborhood. The escalators had been broken and not working for the last 18 months. Its start-up is carried out coinciding with the entry into force of the maintenance contract for these facilities to guarantee their operation.

Both stairs help to overcome large differences in level. The stairs on Fortuny Street overcome a difference in level of 10 meters between Casas and Amigó Streets and Montserrat Street in the Sant Crist neighborhood of Can Cabanyes. For its part, the stairs on Solsona Street overcome a difference in level of 9.90 meters between Sevilla and Ruperto Chapí streets in the La Pau neighborhood.

The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, accompanied by the deputy mayors Cristina Agüera and Daniel Gracia, expressed this morning in front of the stairs on Fortuny street his satisfaction “that these stairs, so necessary for movement, are back in operation and, especially for older people and people with mobility difficulties.” “We can finally assure, after a year and a half that they have been repaired, that thanks to the maintenance contract we have the guarantee that this situation will not be repeated and any problem will be resolved.”

The mayor has also indicated regarding the ramps on Cuba Street in the Sant Crist neighborhood of Can Cabanyes that the machinery must be completely renewed and the City Council is expected to put out to tender the new renewal and maintenance contract during this summer.
