An act of citizen heroism took place in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), where several residents prevented a robbery in broad daylight at a jewelry store in the city center.
According to police sources, the two criminals belonged to a “traveling gang that came from Seville” and intended to escape on a motorcycle after carrying out the robbery at gunpoint.
In a video circulating on social networks, you can see how the robbers, dressed in blue overalls and black helmets, were trying to flee on a motorcycle when they were surprised by neighbors. The citizens did not hesitate to act and knocked down the motorcycle, managing to subdue the criminals despite the risk involved in confronting armed individuals.
“Some pedestrians have minor injuries, as does the jewelry store clerk,” police sources say, highlighting the courage and determination of the neighbors to avoid the robbery. The quick intervention of the citizens allowed the robbers to be detained until the arrival of the National Police, who proceeded to arrest them.
The agents seized a short weapon, a mace, the keys to a van, two motorcycle helmets, a spray gun and two backpacks with numerous jewelry that the criminals were carrying. The investigation remains open due to the itinerant nature of the criminals, with the aim of determining their possible involvement in other similar criminal acts.
The brave act of the neighbors has been widely praised on social media and in the local community. Citizen collaboration and the rapid response of the authorities have been essential to avoid a robbery with potentially serious consequences in the heart of the city.
