The “shopping basket” bonus that Ximo Puig has presented today, agreed between the Generalitat Valenciana and the distribution companies, will consist of a 90-euro prepaid bank card that can be used in any large or small business in the Valencian Community. It will benefit half a million people with a family income of less than 21,000 euros and will be activated from April to June.

The Generalitat Valenciana allocates 48.4 million euros to this objective and has counted on the collaboration of distribution companies such as Mercadona, El Corte Inglés, Consum, Lidel or Alcampo. The request for this bonus will be electronic and this aid will be compatible with others such as the minimum vital income. “It cannot be a universal solution, it must be a solution to tackle the fracture that exists in society at the moment and that affects the most vulnerable people”, said Ximo Puig

The president of the Valencian Business Confederation, Salvador Navarro, has detailed the agreement between the distributors and the Generalitat. “We are aware that part of the citizenry is having a hard time,” he pointed out. He has recognized that the distributors assume a part of the social bond worth one million euros.
