The third world war has arrived. At least to X. Margarita Robles assured this weekend in an interview in La Vanguardia that the risk of war “is absolute and society is not fully aware.” Physical distance from Russia is decisive when it comes to relativizing the threat, although any statement, interview or report is eagerly devoured by Internet users. Interest is skyrocketing in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, as if a nuclear conflict depended on living 600 km more or less to the right on the world map…

The apocalyptic tendency of the networks comes from afar, seasoned with the prophecies of Nostradamus and the rise of populism, the extreme right and fake news. @elcinemellama defines it: “The Oppenheimer effect is becoming more canon every day, the third world war is just around the corner.” Vladimir Putin celebrates his victory in an electoral farce by threatening a conflict between Russia and NATO: “That would be one step away from a third world war.” Kim Jong Un joins the trends: “The clock is ticking. We are on the verge of the third world war”; Trump seeks the vote of fear: “If I don’t win the elections, there will be a bloodbath” – economic, he clarifies later –… Kate Middleton does not appear, the BBC has its logo in black…

The networks do not digest geopolitical analysis well, they prefer Putin’s warmongering videos. @OpinadorProfes4 takes the issue down: “He can’t even handle eastern Ukraine, but he has half of Twitter hysterical shouting ‘World War III’ like teenage girls.” The reply to Putin is distributed by Trump’s followers – Patriotic Guardians, National Reaction… – with the magical abilities of their leader. The Republican candidate threatens a civil war in the United States, but boasts of knowing what to say to Putin and Zelensky to end the war in Ukraine: “I will solve it quickly and it won’t take more than a day. I will very easily avoid the third world war.”

Democracy is running out of time, writes Daniel Innerarity. There are three demons identified in X. “Civilization can be attacked by unscrupulous people like Putin,” Robles warned. One. Then there is Trump and his fascination with Kim Jong Un. Two and three. “He is the head of the State, a strong boss. He speaks and his people sit and listen. I want my people to do the same,” he explains backstage at a rally.

Finally, the heavenly sanity of @diostuitero takes the likes: “If you are going to start the third world war, wait until Easter passes, and then everything will come together.”
