The Investigating Court 31 of Barcelona sent this Friday to provisional detention without bail the suspect of the sexual assault in Poble Espanyol at dawn from March 10 to 11 —the first of the two that there was that weekend—, they have explained to Europa Press judicial sources.

According to ‘El País’, the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested the man on Thursday of last week in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).

The sources consulted by Europa Press have added that the man is being investigated for the alleged crimes of sexual assault, injury and robbery.

The attack occurred around 5 hours inside the Poble Espanyol compound, in a dark street, and the victim is a 19-year-old English student.

Sources close to the case have explained that, after the attack, the girl returned to ask for help at the Input nightclub, where she had been partying. The local security guards found her with a severe blow to the head, traces of blood and bruised knees.

The Catalan and state nightlife employers, Fecasarm and Spain Nightlife, asked on March 24 to appear as popular accusation in the case through a request letter.

In their brief, addressed to the examining magistrate, the two employers alleged that one of their purposes is the “defense of the image and prestige” of the nightlife sector, after the attack occurred in the vicinity of a nightclub associated with the Fecasarm and, indirectly, to Spain Nightlife.
