Giuseppina Molinari, nicknamed Giose, is not afraid of almost anything. She is also not subject to any sanction from the Italian traffic service. This 103-year-old woman was caught driving in the middle of the night without insurance and with an expired license while she “was going to meet some friends” near Ferrara, in the north of the country.

As explained by the Carabinieri in a statement received by AFP last Thursday, the elderly woman was circulating dangerously in the center of Bondeno, a town of 13,000 inhabitants in Emilia-Romagna.

The Italian police went to the scene after a call from a neighbor who noticed the vehicle. “Their surprise was great when they discovered the year of birth of the driver: 1920, that is, he was over 103 years old but he could still get into a car and get to Bondeno to meet friends,” the carabinieri explain.

Given the late hour, the elderly woman, a resident of the region and who had been traveling with a permit that had expired for two years, “was disoriented and continued walking through the same streets,” according to the carabinieri. She was fined and taken home by patrol.
