The oldest neighborhoods in Berga, at the foot of the castle, retain the charm of a medieval town, but their walls are in desperate need of maintenance and restoration work.

In these photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we show old facades that need to be restored, walls with old graffiti that are falling apart, and an old church reflected in the body of a car.

The neighborhoods of Berga are: Barrio del Raval, Barrio de la Creueta, Barrio de Sant Corneli, Barrio de la Poble Sec, Barrio del Pla, Barrio de la Guàrdia and Barrio de la Sagrada Família.

The Berga City Council needs to find new ideas to rehabilitate the old town, with beautiful narrow streets where we can find magnificent restored buildings of historical value, next to buildings in a dilapidated state.

It is necessary to give an economic boost to these old neighborhoods, to revitalize trade in a humane way and provide aid for architectural rehabilitation works.

We will see if the nearby municipal elections manage to generate these impulses and soon it will be possible to return all their splendor to those streets. Berga deserves new political and financial solutions to dignify its historic center. It is already urgent.
