The Civil Guard and the Ourense court have initiated proceedings to clarify the origin of several human skeletal remains found last Sunday near the N-120 highway in Pereiro de Aguiar (Ourense).

According to sources from the Command, the bones were found by a person who was taking a walk in the area and who alerted the Civil Guard. A crew went to the place, at kilometer 557 of the N-120, to cordon off the area, and notified the judicial authority.

Once the remains were removed, which are badly damaged and “seem ancient”, the bones have been transferred to the Imelga forensic anthropology unit in Verín for analysis.

At the moment, the origin of these human remains is unknown, although investigation sources have pointed out that “there is a reservoir nearby” and also “a cemetery”, and they have reiterated that the bones, apparently, “are very old”.
