Spring in the fields of Osona has various colors, but perhaps the one that stands out the most is the yellow of the rapeseed, as can be seen in this series of photographs for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia captured along the paths of Les Masies de Roda .

Rapeseed is a crop that can be profitable and Osona is precisely the Catalan region with the largest extensions of this plant that is used to produce fodder and biodiesel.

This spring there is some uncertainty about how the harvest will go, due to the persistent drought, in contrast to other years when it has rained much more.

But the rapeseed fields shine, more and more extended throughout the territory, and attract all eyes. It is the so-called flowering tourism, increasingly fashionable.

In addition, among so much yellow sea, from time to time a red poppy also appears, another of the great stars of spring.

As its name indicates, Les Masies de Roda, located about 6 km from the capital of the region, Vic, is a territory basically made up of farmhouses, most of them with a long history that gives them even more heritage value.

Among the farmhouses, the Bac stands out, also known as the Bac de Roda, which is one of the oldest country houses in Osona, documented since the end of the 13th century.

In this municipality of about 700 inhabitants, four separate population centers can be distinguished: Les Casas Noves, l’Esquerda, Fontanelles and Vicenç.

It is a basically rural area, as can be seen in the photographs, whose main activity is agriculture and livestock, mainly dedicated to pigs and cattle.
