“Talking through the elbows” is the specialty of Gema Gallardo, a physicist turned streamer and popularly known as Gemita. A little over a year and a half ago, she hung up her teacher’s suit and “changed” her students for an audience that accumulates 1.6 million followers on Twitch. In fact, in six months she reached a whopping million (to which must be added another million on Instagram and a half more on Twitter), digital credentials that few can show off.

With these numbers, Gema Gallardo has become one of the most influential streamers on the national scene. Due to her ability to create content of interest and connect with an audience that does not stop growing, she has entered the Olympus of digital creation, but also to be part of the network

Her numbers reveal an unstoppable trajectory, but what they may not say is that Gema is one of the newcomers, as she shares exclusively in this video. In fact, if there is something that surprised her when she crossed the threshold of Twitch, she was the few women who inhabited that universe. But that, as she observes, has changed: “Seeing female references encourages us to say, I want to too, I can too, and to follow her example.” Gema is now one of them.

To become a benchmark, Gema reveals its secret ingredient: content. Or, rather, create content ‘that she loves’. A task that, like a good stew, she does not understand in a hurry or mathematical formulas. “You have to take it calmly, with patience, and as a hobby, because you have to have a plan B,” she says. “I have peace of mind, because I know that I have my degree in Physics, my studies, my preparation, in case tomorrow I cannot or do not want to continue dedicating myself to this.”

Until that moment arrives (or not), Gema enjoys her new job, a suit that has been made to measure because, according to the streamer, to connect, it is best to talk about the things that motivate or interest her the most. In her case, the range is as big as her concerns: video games (a world she landed in a few months before doing so on Twitch), fashion and lifestyle, among others. She is not the first to touch those sticks, but there is something in Gemita that she catches.

Perhaps it is because, unlike other creators, this Valencian does not fit into a specific type of content. In fact, Gema creates differentiated content for each of its social networks based on its audience and the characteristics of the channel. For example, on Twitch, Gemita works mainly on IRL (in real life) content or video game streaming, while on TikTok she follows the trends of the moment and her Instagram is a statement of lifestyle intent.

Simplicity, sympathy and naturalness make this streamer an ideal hostess in which, regardless of the channel, she seeks a balance between two worlds: the one she has been passionate about and the one that generates more interest among her audience. For Gemita, this balance is key to stand out from other streamers, influencers or creators who launch new content to social networks every day, adding another variable: creativity. “You have to do it in the most unique or different way,” she shares.

Gets it. “I didn’t know how close a relationship could be through a screen. The connection that is created through streaming is so enriching and strong that it gives us chills”, she confesses when talking about her community, for whom she feels very accompanied, and in which she devotes herself offering not only valuable content, but also values. . “When I’m live, what we share among all is very great,” she says.

Great things emerge from this connection. For this reason, although “social networks are not the tool to educate”, Gemita is clear that the force that is generated can go in any direction: good or bad. Indeed, she speaks of responsibility and the importance for her of transmitting good values, since through her content she tries to communicate good things to the youngest, coinciding with another of the prominent voices of

Making your Twitch profile a job has taken more than just passion. The organization and creation of an editorial calendar of publications is another of the keys to Gemita’s success. For her, following a content strategy and being able to guide planning is very important to connect with her audience and keep her audience active. “I’ve always been a bit chaotic, but if you want things to work out, you need order in your day to day,” she confesses.

On a weekly basis, Gemita establishes fixed hours and anticipates the topics on which it will speak. “You also have to have the ability to adapt and improvise.” And manage the great mass of feedback that comes to him, especially when it is harmful. “It’s not nice for anyone to receive hundreds of thousands of insults, without any kind of argument or support,” she shares. “My experience is that you have to stay with the good and park the hate.”
