The Belgian Thibaut Courtois, goalkeeper of Real Madrid, underwent successful surgery this Wednesday for the tear in the internal meniscus of his right knee that he suffered on Tuesday during training.

“Our player Thibaut Courtois underwent successful surgery today for a tear in the internal meniscus of his right knee under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services. Courtois will begin his recovery process in the coming days,” Real Madrid reported in a statement.

An injury that came in the final stretch of recovery from the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that he suffered on August 10.

Training on the pitch at the Real Madrid Sports City, Courtois noticed a crack in what was his healthy knee and left the field in tears before confirming a new knee injury. Another setback just when Courtois, after seven months out, began to glimpse his return.

At the end of February he began working with the group, interspersing these sessions with individualized work, which led Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti to mark the goalkeeper’s return after the national team break.

However, the tear in the internal meniscus in his right knee will postpone his return until next season. The player will have to be out for at least two months.
