The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has increased the fares for the Aerobús service, the shuttle bus that connects the center of Barcelona with the airport without stops, transporting millions of people each year.
Specifically, the price has risen 7.4%. The single ticket goes from the 6.75 euros it was worth until now to 7.25 euros; the round trip ticket, from 11.65 to 12.50 euros; and the combined single ticket between Aerobús and metro goes from 8.00 to 8.50 euros.
In a statement from last Tuesday, AMB detailed that the new rates will come into force on the first day of the month following the publication of the prices in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB). That is, next April 1.
This decision has been made by the Metropolitan Council of the AMB, taking into account various factors to guarantee the sustainability of the system, among which the significant increase in tickets for other means of public transport that are used to connect the city of Barcelona with the airport stands out. .
The Aerobús service is made up of two lines, A1 and A2, which connect the center of Barcelona with terminals T1 and T2 in about 35 minutes.
The service came into operation in 2002 and, except during the pandemic, its number of travelers has not stopped growing, reaching more than 5.66 million users in 2023.
