The founder and historical leader of the far-right French National Front (FN) party – now the National Rally (AN) -, Jean-Marie Le Pen, 94, has been hospitalized in Paris with a serious prognosis. The newspapers Le Figaro and Le Point have reported that Le Pen was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after suffering a heart condition while at his Rueil-Malmaison in the Hauts-de-Seine.

“Great fatigue, perhaps of a cardiac nature, justifies his immediate hospitalization in a public hospital in the Paris region by decision of his doctors,” a friend of Le Pen was quoted as saying by Le Point.

Le Pen was last hospitalized in February 2022 after a transient ischemic attack, a mild form of stroke. Once the historic far-right leader had been overcome, he did not give any concrete worth of weakness and even received the press to give interviews until last week.

He was a candidate for the French Presidency up to five times, but he had not held any position of responsibility since he left his seat in the European Parliament in 2019. He did continue to participate as a commentator or commentator.
