The week that has just begun will not have significant weather changes until Friday, since rain is hardly expected until then and the maximum temperatures will continue to be above normal values while the minimum will be normal or even somewhat colder and with minimum temperatures than cold , even with some frosts, which will cause a wide thermal amplitude, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

The AEMET spokesman, Rubén del Campo, has indicated that the difference in temperatures between early morning and afternoon will be “very marked” and that hardly any precipitation is expected until Friday, beyond some isolated showers in mountain areas and when arrive, on the weekend, the rains will be limited to the extreme north.

On Tuesday an air mass of continental origin will enter the Peninsula that will cause a drop in temperatures that will be more pronounced than in the north of the Peninsula, where it will dawn with weak frosts in general in points of the Pyrenees, central moors and points of the northern plateau. In cities like Vitoria or Pamplona in the central hours of the day it will not exceed 15 or 16 degrees Celsius (ºC), while in much of the south and west it will be around or exceed 23 or 25ºC, such as in Salamanca, La Coruña or Pontevedra, which will reach 26ºC and Seville or Córdoba at 32ºC.

As for the rains, he points out that this Tuesday “very little” will fall, if any showers in the surroundings of the Pyrenees and the Iberian system and the strong easterly wind will continue to blow in the Strait.

On Wednesday an influx of fresh continental air will arrive and there will be a rise in daytime temperatures that will be notable in the northern half and that in points of the Bay of Biscay can be up to 8ºC different from Tuesday. In Spain, slightly cloudy skies will predominate, although in the south of Andalusia the cloudiness will increase, accompanied by suspended dust that will give rise to haze.

Nor does it rule out that a weak shower could fall in the south, while in the rest there will continue to be no rain and with maximum temperatures that will be between 5 and 10ºC above normal for the season on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

In fact, Del Campo points out that the only area where the environment will be more suitable for these dates will be the Mediterranean area where the sea breezes will maintain normal thermal values for these dates.

The minimum temperatures in general will be typical for the season, even a little cooler in parts of Catalonia. For this reason, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday there will also be a great thermal amplitude between day and night, of more than 20ºC in many points.

For example, on Wednesday in Bilbao they will go from a minimum of 5ºC to a maximum of 27ºC; in Córdoba, from 9 to 30ºC, in Valencia from 4ºC to 26ºC in Zamora from 7º to 27ºC or in Pamplona, from 4 to 24ºC. “You’ll have to put on layers first thing in the morning that will be leftovers later,” he advises.

For Thursday, he predicts that the minimum temperatures will generally rise a couple of degrees and the daytime temperatures will rise, especially in the east of the Peninsula. Thus, in Murcia, Zaragoza, Seville, Córdoba or Badajoz, for example, they will reach 30ºC while on the Mediterranean coasts they will not exceed 23 or 25ºC.

That day, Thursday will continue “without signs of rain”, except for some isolated showers in the Pyrenees and the Iberian System and on Friday the temperatures will remain unchanged, between 5 and 10ºC above the average in much of the country.

The environment will remain stable and with hardly any rain, but at the end of Friday a front will arrive in Galicia that can leave rain there and that on Saturday will cause an increase in cloudiness in a large part of the Peninsula, although the rainfall will be limited to Galicia, the communities Cantabrian and Pyrenees.

Del Campo does not rule out that they could spread weakly on Sunday to points on the northern plateau and Extremadura. On Sunday it seems that the rains will be limited to the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees. After the passage of the front on Saturday, a marked thermal drop will be observed in the west of the Peninsula of between 6 and 10ºC in points of Castilla y León. The temperature drop will be temporary on Saturday because it seems that temperatures will rise again on Sunday in general.

Finally, the AEMET spokesman warns that with this situation the risk of fires will be very high throughout the week, at least until Wednesday in a large part of the southern, eastern and northern thirds of the Peninsula.

Regarding the Canary Islands, it predicts that northerly winds will predominate, with clouds in the north of the islands of greater relief and possible light rains there, in the south of the islands it will be clearer and temperatures will not experience major changes in the coming days.
