Renault has just presented the restyling of the fifth generation of its popular and long-lived compact Clio. This is a mid-lifecycle update. Orders for this renewed model will open in Spain in June 2023.

The most notable innovations are focused on the front, which mounts renewed bumpers, radiator grilles and headlights (the daytime running lights debut the light signature in the shape of a half diamond that will also be displayed on the brand’s next models). The rear has also been revamped with a new bumper and tweaked taillights that now feature clear lenses.

All these stylistic changes do not alter the dimensions of the car, which maintains dimensions practically identical to those of the previous version. Thus, it measures 4,053 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width and 1,439 mm in height. The boot offers a cargo capacity of up to 391 litres.

Inside there are no spectacular changes, so we can say that it has a design similar to that of its predecessor. Following in the wake of other models, such as the Austral or the Espace, Renault introduces the Esprit Alpine finish, which replaces the old RS Line. This version has its own specifications to reinforce its sportier character. For example, the steering wheel, made of perforated material, has blue, white and red stitching, colors of the French flag that have also been used in the embroidery on the dashboard. The pedals are made of aluminum and specific trims for the door sills are integrated in the front part.

With new services and improved connectivity, this Clio incorporates a digital instrument panel that, depending on the chosen finish, is 7 or 9.3 inches. The Easy Link multimedia system can now be connected wirelessly with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (a cable was previously required).

As for the mechanical range, two gasoline engines disappear, which develop 67 and 140 hp, respectively. The rest of the propellants are maintained. Thus, the renewed model will be available with the TCe 100 GLP gasoline block, which can run on gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas; the 100 hp Blue dCi diesel; and the 145 hp E-Tech self-recharging hybrid. This latest version combines a 91 hp gasoline engine and two 49 and 24 hp electric engines respectively.

The Renault Clio was launched on the market in 1990. Since then, almost 16 million units have been sold worldwide, of which more than one million have been delivered to Spain and some 600,000 continue to circulate on our roads.

This model, which has been awarded several times both nationally and internationally, was manufactured between 1990 and 2013 at the Valladolid factory. From there came about 3 million units belonging to the first three generations of the Clio.

Its Made in Spain character continues, since the gearbox of the E-Tech full hybrid engine is produced at the facilities of the Renault group in Seville and the diesel engine is manufactured at the Valladolid Engine plant.
