A 25-year-old man has been transferred to the Getafe hospital with a serious prognosis after receiving a strong electric shock this Thursday in Ciudad Real after climbing one of the catenaries of the AVE track.
According to sources from the 112 Emergency Service, the event took place at 11:15 p.m. in the Playa Park car park. The young man jumped over the fences that delimit the railway line. And, after receiving the electric shock, he fell on the tracks engulfed in flames.
Finally, the man was rescued, treated by an ICU and transferred to the Ciudad Real hospital from where he was referred to the Burn Unit of the Getafe hospital.
The reasons why the young man decided to climb the catenary with an extremely dangerous maneuver are unknown. The Ciudad Real Local Police have confirmed that, to get to the place, the young man had to jump over the perimeter fence that protects the AVE tracks.
Due to the incident, the railway manager ADIF was forced to temporarily suspend the circulation of trains in the area for 45 minutes.
