More than a hundred people gathered yesterday afternoon in front of the Sant Fruitós de Bages Town Hall to show their support for the family and friends of the two residents of the municipality who lost their lives last Sunday in a quad accident.

The concentration, in which a minute of silence was held, served to convey the condolences of the neighbors to the families of the victims, who wanted to thank the presence of so many people.

The concentration started at six in the afternoon and there was an emotional minute of silence in memory of the two fatalities, the driver and the person accompanying the quad, who were an uncle and a nephew. Both were residents of Sant Fruitós de Bages.

In a statement, the Sant Fruitós de Bages City Council deeply regretted these two losses and wanted to convey its desire “to accompany everyone around them in these difficult times.”

The victims are uncle and nephew, 30 and 12 years old respectively. The events took place in a wooded area near Sant Benet de Bages when the quad plunged into a ravine on the road to Les Generes, in the municipality of Talamanca.

The notice of the accident came a few minutes after 7 pm. Both victims were in an area with difficult access and, when they were able to arrive, the forensic doctor certified their death. As a result of the accident, eight Mossos and six land fire crews were activated, as well as two helicopters and GRAE personnel from Olot and Cerdanyola del Vallès. Three EMS units, the medicalized helicopter and a team of psychologists also attended. The Mossos have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the accident.
