The renewable energy sector is going through a good moment due to its low price policy and the increasingly easy conditions for installing solar panels in homes. One of the pioneering companies in the sector is the Barcelona firm Holaluz, which closed the 2022 financial year with a 61% increase in revenue, reaching 919.8 million euros.
Carlota Pi, co-founder of the business, explained this morning at a press conference that the company has also dropped negative gross profit (ebitda) from last year and that this year has been positive, standing at 14.3 million euros.
The growth of the business, he explained, is due to the increase in the volume of managed energy, the high electricity prices as a result of the collapse of the energy markets (although lower compared to conventional energy) and the increase in the solar business.
Specifically, the energy management division has achieved revenues of 468 million euros, with 11,384 contracts, while the solar panel installation division has achieved revenues of more than 30 million euros, attracting 3,400 new customers.
Regarding net profit, Holaluz expects to reach it next year 2024. “We are still investing in the growth of our solar panel installation division. We are allocating resources to marketing and logistics infrastructure, in two centers located on the outskirts of Barcelona and Madrid”, indicated Pi, who founded the business 13 years ago together with Oriol Vila and Ferrán Nogué.
With 700 people on staff, the Barcelona company rules out new company acquisitions as well as expansion into the international market. He considers that in Spain there is still a lot of market to conquer. In addition, it focuses exclusively on the distribution of renewable solar energy. Last year, he decided to abandon the sale of gas.
