A meditation workshop to put the self on pause with views of the vineyards, a yoga session in the open air, excursions, Nordic walking or walks among the vineyards, a blind tasting in a professional room, presentations of new products, a race of ten kilometers between vines, breakfasts, viticulturist meals or a brunch in nature; and even harmonize musical concerts with cava (from jazz, pop or boleros to bossa-nova or soul).
These are some of the varied proposals of the sixth edition of La Primavera del Cava, which returns next May, with up to 18 activities between vineyards. It is expected to reach a thousand participants. In last year’s edition, there were already close to 800 participants, surpassing the nearly 600 wine tourists registered before the pandemic.
This wine tourism festival, which will be held on the weekends from May 6 to 28, revolves this year especially around nature and also food and wine. In fact, there will be a cooking workshop, or the pairing with summer truffle cava, cheeses, sausages, paella and even flowers, plants and fruits from the Maresme.
There will also be proposals to discover the sprouting and flowering of the vines, the secrets of organic viticulture and biodynamics or the green pruning of DO Cava vines this spring. They are, all of them, activities designed for all audiences. They will take place outdoors, with reduced capacity, and prior reservation. All of them have been created especially for the Cava Spring.
It is the first edition in which this food and wine festival, whose proposals until now were mainly concentrated in Alt Penedès cavas, has been decidedly expanded with events in wineries in the Alt Camp, Alella and Conca de Barberà regions.
Specifically, Cava Spring will be celebrated in Bolet Caves, Giró del Gorner, Celler Joan Segura Pujadas, Agustà Torelló Mata, Canals
The initiative, which is defined as “wine tourism in pure state”, is coordinated by the employers’ Association of Cava Producers (Aecava). Its president, Joaquim Tosas, assures that “with La Primavera del Cava we want to encourage wine tourism around the cava with a unique and characteristic proposal”.
