Let’s hope that peace is between us for many years. With this spirit I captured this photograph of this sculpture in the square of Platja Es Monestrí in Sant Antoni de Calonge, in the Baix Empordà region.
Costa Brava, Girona, Catalunya, Spain and on all continents, all twinned, animated and more human. This is my wish conveyed with these images in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos of this sculpture by artist Rosa Serra.
The human figure, always present in all of this artist’s creations, is treated with different materials in her works: marble, stone, bronze, fiberglass or polyester. As you can see, the sculpture has delicate and soft finishes.
The artist seeks the constant play between emptiness and matter, with figures that never defy gravity. She likes that people can come and touch them, not only see them but hear them. Her work could also be seen on display a few years ago in the Parc dels Estanys in Platja d’Aro.
Distinguished in 2008 by the Generalitat of Catalonia with the Creu de Sant Jordi for the quality and projection of her work, Rosa Serra’s sculptures are scattered throughout the world.
