A man has died in Mallorca after being swept away by the sea while bathing on a beach in the north of the island. The man was dragged away from the coast as a result of the strong waves in the area and was unable to get out by his own means. In the same circumstances, it has been possible to rescue a woman in the area, who is in serious condition after being swept away by the waves.

The tragic event occurred in the mid-afternoon of this Tuesday, when several people were bathing on the beach of sa Canova, in the municipality of Artà. The man, of foreign nationality, entered the sea with the intention of taking a bath on a hot but windy day. A woman also got into the water to bathe in the same area, although they were not together, according to Ultima Hora.

The bathers who were in the area saw how the man was progressively moving away from the coast and could not return on his own, so they quickly notified the emergency teams to come to the rescue. When they finally reached the area, emergency personnel were able to get both the man and the woman out of the water. He had already died and resuscitation tasks were applied to the woman, despite which she is in serious condition, at the Manacor Hospital.

Very close to there, they also had to help a woman who had trouble getting out of the water as a result of the force of the sea. At this time, the circumstances of the two events are being investigated and it is still unknown if the deceased and the injured were tourists or residents of the island. The deceased is a foreigner.
