The family of the eleven-year-old girl who was raped by six minors in the MÃ gic shopping center in Badalona last November has made the decision to leave the city due to death threats received by a brother of the victim from the aggressors .
The information, advanced by the journalist Anna PunsÃ, indicates that they will leave Badalona between this week and the next. The mother of the family has had to leave her job to deal with legal procedures and accompany the victim to the psychiatrist, while she receives psychological help. The minor will testify before the Prosecutor’s Office in June.
The municipal council helps the family through social services in the procedures for the transfer and change of educational center of the two minor children.
The girl’s family reacted with astonishment in mid-April when one of the two arrested for the assault was released under supervision with precautionary measures to the only minor who was in custody. The Mossos d’Esquadra, after an investigation, had come to identify five of the alleged perpetrators of the sexual assault, two of them initially arrested. The other minor was on probation from the beginning.
The other three young people accused of participating in the sexual assault were under 14 years of age, so the case was referred to the General Directorate for Child and Adolescent Care (DGAIA), to the department of inimputable minors. The minor who threatened to kill the victim’s brother is also in custody.
In less than eight months there have been four cases of sexual assault at the MÃ gic de Badalona. For this reason, last weekend some 200 people demonstrated in protest against the inaction and the lack of aid from the institutions for the victims “protecting the interests” of the shopping center.
