The event occurred on Barcelona de Almassora street, according to municipal sources, who added that both vehicles, the bicycle and the car, were traveling in the opposite direction on that road when the driver ran over the cyclist and caused him injuries that have caused death.
The driver of the tourism, a 32-year-old resident of Vila-real and owner of the Opel Astra tourism involved in the accident, had been fleeing from the Civil Guard from Castellón de la Plana and after the event occurred, he abandoned the car and run away.
According to sources from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU), a Unit of the Urgent Medical Aid Service (SAMU) has moved to the place, whose medical team has only been able to confirm the death of the man.
The vehicle has been located by the agents investigating the case, in which the Civil Guard and the Almassora Local Police are collaborating, although the alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run has not yet been arrested.
