The slowness of justice can become authentic torture; even more so for the young victims of sexual assaults in packs. Let them tell X, who was assaulted and raped three years ago by four young people, two adults, P.L.J. and J.S.L, and two minors, in an urbanization of El Puig, in Valencia. And that she has had to wait three years for justice to fulfill her role. The trial began yesterday, although it has been postponed again for a few days.
The case was published by this newspaper. In July 2020, two adults and two minors, Valencians, known to the urbanization, took advantage of the girl’s poor physical condition on a night out to force her to engage in sexual practices against her will, according to the facts denounced and assumed by the Prosecutor’s Office, that asks for the two adults 22 years in prison.
The mother commented this Thursday that “whatever the sentence, my daughter has been wanting to overcome it for years; she continues with medication, with visits to the psychiatrist and the psychologist, she has suffered dissociation symptoms that have forced her to be admitted and she has harmed herself in an incredible way”. “The case has destroyed our family, she has lost two courses, but she continues to fight, she is very brave,” she told this newspaper. And she adds “we have never been able to return to our urbanization.”
It all happened on a summer night. The girl participated in a bottle with her friends and friends, and admits that alcohol had terrible effects on her. At one point, X, let’s call the minor that way, met B, a 17-year-old boy that she liked. She was still in very bad shape because of alcohol, and B called three more friends, C, 16 years old; P. L. The four young people then decided to go up to the terrace of the urbanization with her. The two adults then began to cheer “B if I were you I would fuck herâ€, “you like it hard, if you were older I would fuck youâ€. At that moment, B went to a corner of the roof and forced her to have sex, also oral; according to the complaint. After her C, another minor, encouraged by the adults – “come on, now you” – also forced her to practice oral sex, and with her hand he caused damage and injuries to her genitals, as confirmed by the report medical examiner.
The girl, who also suffered a bruise on her mouth, admitted to the Civil Guard that she was scared to death, that she just wanted it to end, for it to end so that they would stop attacking her and that she was afraid that they would later make fun of her.
These are details of an episode that lasted a long time. The adults even encouraged them to continue with these acts, but they saw that she was in terrible shape, that she continued to vomit, and they gave up on continuing. The story is shocking when reading what the girl said to the Civil Guard: “I am afraid of what will happen, I am afraid, of the trial, of what they are going to do, what they are going to tell, that the people feel sorry for me, to gain weight, to everything… That they don’t believe me because they don’t tell the truthâ€.
During the interrogations of witnesses and friends of the victim, one of them admitted to the Civil Guard that, after the events, “B was very nervous, he told us that he believed that he had raped a turkey, that he had screwed up.”
The mother says that “we are so used to hearing stories like this that we are not aware of the consequences on the victims, their mind after a trauma like this is not prepared for the protocols or complaints or judicial processes, from forensic examinations or social isolation; time It will take a long time to find out what will happen to them and where they will be, it is a very hard psychological job.”
The defenses managed this Thursday for these two young people to declare at the end of the process and not at the beginning, as is usual. The good news is that the girl, now an adult, will not have to testify in court at the request of the private prosecution and against the opinion of the defenses. They wanted to protect her, avoid her victimization in this trial.
The two minors, now adults, reached a pact with justice but, most importantly, they recognized the facts. Factor that can be definitive to establish the sentence to the two adults now accused.
