The Civil Guard of Valencia has arrested four men for allegedly beating another to steal his mobile when he was traveling on the subway, near the town of Picanya.
The events occurred in mid-February, when on the subway, specifically near Picanya, a man who was part of a group of five stole a passenger’s mobile phone, who chased him to try to get it back. Upon reaching him, he was attacked by the rest of the group, who kicked him in the body and head, reports the Armed Institute.
As the victim resisted, one of the perpetrators took out a knife and tried to stick it into the victim, which was prevented by one of the security guards, while another managed to detain one of the perpetrators until the arrival of the Civil Guard.
The security guard who repelled the attack with a knife also had to defend himself against the attack, as the perpetrator tried to stab him. Finally, four of the five people who made up the group fled from the place.
That same night, a Civil Guard patrol in Picanya detained a man with characteristics similar to those described and observed in the events that took place in the subway. This man was trying to access a home in Picanya after having previously robbed another. Subsequently, it was possible to prove his effective participation in the robbery.
As a result of the investigation efforts and thanks to the collaboration with private security personnel and the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), it was possible to ascertain the identity of the rest of the assailants and two of them were arrested and one of them summoned for appear before the court in the following days, details the Benemérita in a statement.
The result of the procedures carried out and the collaboration with FGV and the security guards allowed the arrest of these four men, between the ages of 18 and 36 and Algerian nationality, for the crime of robbery with violence. The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Torrente is responsible for the proceedings.
