A fire in a flat on Balmes street in Barcelona has caused the death of an 85-year-old woman. As Betevé has advanced and Bombers has lamented in a tweet, the old woman would have died at her home, located on the fifth floor of the building.
“We regret the death of an 85-year-old woman in a fire in an apartment in Sarrià -Sant Gervasi this afternoon,” they lamented. In addition, the “Centre d’Urgencies and Social Emergencies of Barcelona to attend to the relatives of the victim” has been activated.
The Barcelona Bombers received the notice around 3:00 p.m. this Friday. Up to seven fire brigades, several ambulances from the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and the Urban Police have moved to the scene of the events.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation. At the moment the causes of the start of the fire are unknown.
The fire has been extinguished shortly after the arrival of the fire crews, and traffic on Balmes street has been restored. The fire occurred in a flat in the central street of the Catalan capital, at the confluence with Calle Luis Antúnez.
