Only the number of the Madrid street where it is located makes a nostalgic nod to the nightclub that emerged (and venerated) on West 54th Street in Manhattan in the late seventies. To the temple of fun and debauchery that enlivened the nights of celebrities such as Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Calvin Klein and Elizabeth Taylor. Where Bianca Jagger burst in on horseback on the night of her birthday to the rhythm of Sympathy for the Devil.
Lula Club (Gran Vía, 54) wanted to recover that iconic spirit and has brought together cool personalities from art, culture, music and society: the actors Maxi Iglesias and Jaime Lorente, the pilot Carlos Sainz, the influencers Paula Gonu and Dulceida, the singers Lali Espósito and Marta Sánchez, the presenter Pablo Motos, the designer Eduardo Navarrete or the businessman Kike Sarasola.
Two years after its opening, this trendy night temple shines with its colorful spotlights pointing at the dance floor. Theirs is a dance hit. “In Lula, the magic is in diversity. It is a place where your social tribe, where you come from or your sexual orientation does not matter, just that you want to have fun and dance,” says Íñigo Onieva, one of its founding partners, along with Mattia Torrione, Pablo Marín and Mercado de Fuencarral.
Velvet, mirrors and gilding decorate a space for 1,200 people that exudes speakeasy essence and a vibrant atmosphere. The nightclub livens up the night with DJ sessions, concerts and special editions.
Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, from 12 to 6 in the morning, a tempting agenda is offered: from resident DJs (Maik Miroux, Torrione, Body-O, Saldivar, Toni Aparisi or Roi) and guests (Bora Uzer, Folamour or Carlita) to concerts (Neuman, L.A., Delafé and Las Flores Azules, Nunatak and LF System have already visited the club).
“Lula Club has brought that change of focus of the electronic music club to nightlife, and has brought the underground scene closer to a more cosmopolitan audience. A music scene with the most relevant DJs, high-level service and an incredible atmosphere with fun and energetic people,” explains Onieva.
