Those who have studied on large university campuses throughout their formative years are aware of the large number of kilometers that may have to be covered throughout the week to get from one class to another. To solve this situation and make transfers more comfortable and bearable, a curious electric mobility alternative arrives from Turkey.
This proposal is called Campus and has been created by the Turkish industrial designer Edibe Zehra Kanibol. Keep in mind that the objective of this vehicle is not to offer an alternative to sneak through the narrow streets of any big city. And it is that it is specifically designed to move only inside university complexes or similar, without going out into open traffic.
In fact, it is designed to be used through a rental service available only to teachers and students. The vehicle has a 6 kW electric motor and is capable of traveling at a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Simplicity and functionality are key in this proposal, which is why the lower part of the Campus only includes a basic chassis and a battery that occupies a good part of the space located under the ground.
It must be taken into account that it is a three-wheeled vehicle (two rear and one front) and that the traction is in the rear area. Since it offers a very compact design, it only offers space for two occupants in total (driver and front passenger). Thanks to its large glass surface, it offers a passenger compartment with great visibility to the outside and, at the same time, with great interior light.
In addition to the space for the occupants, the Campus has a small trunk to store, for example, a couple of moderately sized backpacks. To access this space, it is only necessary to lift the rear window, which acts as a gate in its entirety. Its control panel stands out for its minimalism, with an oval steering wheel, very simplified keypads and a small digital screen.
On this screen you can check the speed at which we circulate as well as the intensity at which the engine is running at all times and, of course, the song that is being played on the sound system (which can be associated with a Smartphone). .
And it is that, despite its simplicity, the Campus has a sound system with speakers installed in the doors to enjoy our favorite music while traveling between classes. The gray and black colors are predominant in the cabin, although some details in yellow should not be overlooked.
Thanks to a mobile application, it is possible to locate where the vehicle units are located, unlock them for use and pay for each trip. For now, the Campus is in the project phase, but it may be that in the not too distant future we will begin to see it for the large educational complexes committed to emission-free mobility.
If you want to know some other electric mobility alternative for short journeys, you can take a look at the video that accompanies this article, referring to the curious vehicle already on sale called Microlino.
