Global Omnium together with the Valencia City Council has promoted a set of recreational activities, raising awareness and disseminating the value of water as an essential resource on the occasion of the world day that is celebrated today. Carlos Mundina, Councilor for the Water Cycle, together with Dionisio Garcia Comín, CEO of Global Omnium, have highlighted the importance of promoting awareness and knowledge actions about this resource, the important investments made to ensure the best service and the commitment technology that has been done in this matter to ensure that Valencia continues to be an international benchmark for intelligent water management.

The day began with the launch of some educational workshops in the Parc Central of Valencia where more than a hundred children from nearby schools were invited and which remained open to all those who came. The objective is, according to Carlos Mundina, “to raise awareness among the little ones about the importance of water as a resource that must be protected and preserved together, not only drinking water or ensuring its better reuse, but also in the marine environment.” For this reason, in addition to the workshops organized by the Consumers Union and the Aguas de Valencia Foundation, the Oceanografic foundation has also done so because, as Mundina has highlighted, “the key message is that every drop counts and that without water there is no green.” .

For his part, Dionisio García Comín CEO of Global Omnium has highlighted that “Valencia can boast of being one of the cities that best manages its water with performance levels over 90 percent and with excellent quality water.” Furthermore, he has stated that “Valencia was the first European city that had the vision and opted for the installation of smart meters, something that is now very fashionable and is being installed in other Spanish cities… In that, we are absolutely pioneers. The advantages are that we have daily information and the time of what happens to the network, if there is a significant variation we can act quickly looking for leaks in the city without waiting, we can also notify our customers if they have a higher consumption than usual, in addition The relationship with the administration is totally transparent. Value of water: responsibility and quality

An open day was held at the EMIVASA facilities to publicize its facilities and where a round table was also held with the participation of experts in water matters, which was moderated by Pepe Sierra, a journalist specialized in the Environment. Amparo López from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Bruno Ballesteros from IGEM, Juan Carlos Blázquez from Acciona and Javier Macian from Emivasa have addressed the value, care and protection of water from their respective perspectives because “we are all water.”

Emivasa, the company that manages drinking water in the city, is responsible for 1,249 km of distribution water pipes, 157 kilometers of low pressure network – one of the few cities that has it and uses it for irrigation and other uses – and another 71 kilometers of arterial network. To this end, some 300 people work, also distributed in the two plants that supply the city: the La Presa plant in Manises, which has a capacity of 3.5 m3/second per day, and the Realón plant in Picassent, which can reach 3 m3/second per day.
