The Strawberry Train reaches its 40th season this year to commemorate the first railway route between the capital of Madrid and Aranjuez carried out in 1851.

It is an original and fun trip on this means of transport through which 325,000 passengers have already passed. It offers a journey in space and time, which invites you to get to know Aranjuez in a different way, an enclave declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.

This convoy will continue to travel this railway line every weekend in spring and autumn starting next March 30. It leaves the Delicias station at 10 in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays and arrives at the Madrid municipality. On the tour, actors recreate the history of the train and the historical events linked to the palace.

Tickets can be purchased on the website or at the station itself. The price for adults starts at 27.05 euros and for children from 1 to 1.40 meters at 21 euros. Later, if you purchase the trip with a tour on the Aranjuez tourist train and the guided tours of the historic gardens or the Royal Palace, the prices go up. You can even book the trip with a river walk along the Tagus or go to an orchard and see how the famous strawberries are grown.

Inaugurated in 1984, the Strawberry Train recalls the route of the first train in the region – and second in Spain after the Barcelona-Mataró -, opened to traffic in 1851 to facilitate the arrival of fresh strawberries every morning of the riverside orchard to the court of Isabel II.

This initiative of the Spanish Railways Foundation has the collaboration of the regional government to promote the cultural and tourist attractions of Aranjuez.
