The reasons for this can be very varied, although, generally, they usually have to do with the impossibility of taking care of the elderly person due to difficulties in conciliation. For whatever reason, residences offer multiple advantages, thanks to the fact that they can fully cover health and rehabilitation needs, but also social and occupational ones. However, when looking at different nursing homes, it can be seen that there are several types of places: public, private and subsidized. What is the difference?
Access to nursing homes is organized according to three types of places. The first possibility is public squares, that is, those that are publicly managed. Therefore, the resident has to pay a price, also of a public nature, which is determined according to his or her income.
This is not the case with private places. Due to the fact that they are subject to private management, the cost that the resident must bear will be a market price that he must bear in full. And what about the concerted places? It could be said that they are halfway between the other two classes. These types of places are characterized because they are offered by private management centers, but their financing is public. Therefore, the resident who opts for it will have to pay a public price according to his income.
The main difference between a public nursing home and a private one is that the first one is managed by the public administration, while the second is run by a private company. Therefore, this directly influences the price that the resident who obtains a place in it must pay. Unless, as has already been mentioned, it is a concerted place in a private center. Regarding the quality of the services offered on one site or another, there does not have to be big differences. Although it will always depend on each case.
Another aspect to consider is access. In order to apply for a public position, a more complex and lengthy process must be undertaken than to be able to enter a private residence, where these procedures are expedited. As long as there is availability.
