The controversy created by the racist insults to the Real Madrid player Vinicius has fully entered the campaign and there is no politician who does not define himself in this regard. Alberto Núñez Feijóo was no less and yesterday, in a discussion with the mayor of Madrid and the athlete Toni Nadal, he was categorical in his condemnation of racist conduct, but also in his defense that Spain is not a racist country.

Feijóo considers that it is necessary to speak in a “clear and forceful” way to underline that “sports and racism are incompatible”, but also to make it clear that “Spain is not racist, in any case”, and he said it because there are “few” people “, who are describing Valencia as racist and in his opinion, “when there are people who try to give a distorted image of a city, “we have to be clear and forceful.”

The president of the PP also wanted to make it clear that for him, “sport is education, and education is the opposite of racism.” The president of the PP made these statements during a debate on “Education, Values and leadership”, in which Feijóo wanted to give his support to Martínez Almeida, as he already did with Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Madrid town of Getafe. There, the three agreed on the values that athletes, politicians and citizens should have, beginning with the culture of effort, both in the study, that is to say in education, as well as in politics and sport. And in that, the three made constant references to Rafa Nadal, as a person, not just an athlete, who represents those values.

Toni Nadal joined the Reformismo21 foundation organized by Feijóo in March, and although in his presentation the PP leader assured that he would not ask them to vote for the PP or to campaign for the PP, the former Barça player wanted to have this detail with the mayor of Madrid, because, he acknowledged, although he is and has been from Barça, he has never been an anti-Madridista.

The president of the PP spoke of education to defend the effort, which is not the same as a pass as a fail, Vocational Training, a homogeneous university entrance exam throughout Spain, which leads him to underline the need to do ” quite a few educational adjustments”. Some values that, in his opinion, are needed in life and in politics because “knowing how to lose is also a symptom of education”, and that politicians must exercise, since in moments of tension or “slump”, that politicians They also have, he said, it’s good to see how Rafa Nadal is able to come back, and how you can win with suffering.

In this regard, the president of the PP conceives the policy as “a commitment to society”, in addition to “a renunciation of obtaining a lot of money, even though one lives in a dignified way, above the workers of our country” but where “no you can hoard heritage”. He understands a policy where “the important thing is not to win at any price or govern in any way, but what the citizens think of me when you leave politics.”

Feijóo confessed that he has admired politicians from other political formations and would like “to have politicians to admire and respect in the Government, because if not, it is bad for the country and for the opposition”, because for that the people do not have than to be sectarian In this policy, he sees himself as a long-distance runner “with a short step and a long gaze”, as the mayor of Madrid defined him, who does not “want to get there in any way, but rather to be useful, not to divide society and seek agreement in certain proposals with the opposition”, thinking “what is best for society” and not “what brings you the most votes in the short term”.

For this, he considers it essential, in addition to study, work and management “above oratory or communicating well”, that one of the pillars of a politician is “listening to the street, not shying away from people’s criticism, because They are a well of wisdom.”

It is also a question, he said, of “not creating problems”, of “not frivolizing”, of “not imposing” and that the Government be that of the majorities, with respect for minorities, but not that minorities are the ones that impose his criteria, because that “is a problem for the country,” he said without alluding to any party, without even citing Bildu, and again appealing to that respect for the most voted list to which he continually refers.
