The Court of Instruction 2 of Lleida on Thursday decreed provisional prison, communicated and without bail of the man arrested on Tuesday accused of taking his 2-year-old son from the Center Residencial d’Acció Educativa (CRAE) Llars Infantils Torre Vicens at gunpoint, according to the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia.
The judge released the mother on provisional release with charges, imposing a prohibition on approaching the minor within 200 meters and the obligation to appear in court every fifteen days. The Prosecutor’s Office had requested prison for both, according to the newspaper ‘Segre’.
On Tuesday, the Mossos d’Esquadra found in Maçanet de la Selva (Girona) the two-year-old child, his mother and a brother who were also under the care of the Generalitat and had escaped from a center in Arenys de Mar (Maresme).
The agents detained the mother, arrested the father in Alcarràs (Lleida) and handed the children over to the General Directorate of Care for Children and Adolescents (DGAIA).
