Garbiñe Muguruza is immersed in a process of change in her life. A few weeks ago the news of her job break was known in a friendly way with her coach, Conchita Martínez. Now, the tennis player has announced an important step in her personal field: her future wedding.

Muguruza met her future husband, Arthur Borges, in a way that could be recounted in a romantic novel. After two years of relationship, the couple has decided to take the step they needed to round off their love story. “We would like it to be next year, in the summer, near the beach and in Spain, because it is the place that unites us the most,” explained the tennis player in Hello!.

It all goes back to the United States Open, where Garbiñe Muguruza competed in August 2021. While staying at a hotel in New York, the tennis player decided to walk through Central Park to get away from the pressure of the moment. She dressed in jeans and sneakers, it was right there where she met the love of her life. “What a handsome boy!” was the first thing she thought of.

“Ours was a crush. I left the hotel for a walk, I ran into him, he turned and wished me good luck,” said the tennis player. And it is that Arthur Borges worked at that time for the designer Tom Ford in the American city. As Muguruza recounts, after the crush, Borges “left everything” and moved to Geneva to support the tennis player in her career.

As the tennis player explains in the aforementioned magazine, she has never had good luck in the field of love due to her life “of travel and competition”, until now. She still does not have a date marked, but there is something that she has marked forever: her proposal for her hand, which she defines as “very romantic.”

“He prepared a table under a tree in one of my favorite hotels, in Marbella, and when he proposed it to me, I began to cry,” Muguruza said. They have only been engaged for a month, so the wedding is taking shape little by little.

Although she has nothing planned because she hasn’t “got into it yet”, the tennis player is very clear about how she wants to go down the aisle dressed. A dress that “accentuates” her figure is something key for her. Mind you, she doesn’t want her to be “too sexy.” As she tells the magazine, she prefers it to be elegant and, above all, very comfortable for dancing.

Arthur Borges was born in the Canary Islands, but spent a large part of his life in Finland due to his origins. Garbiñe Muguruza is so close to him that she assures that she has made a good change in his life and an alternative to get away from his work at certain times of the day.
