The man from Batea, in Terra Alta (Tarragona), who last Friday was brutally beaten by two young men, has died this Sunday night.

This was announced by the City Council by decreeing two days of mourning in the municipality, with less than 2,000 inhabitants. Through a statement, the acting mayor, Joaquim Paladella, has also called on Tuesday at one o’clock for all citizens to observe a minute of silence as a sign of condolences to the family and rejection “for this act of violence unjustified”.

The events took place this past Friday night, around 9:00 p.m. The victim herself called the Mossos d’Esquadra reporting that she was seriously injured and she was taken to hospital with significant head injuries after receiving a beating.

A few hours later, the agents of the Gandesa Investigation Unit arrested a 19-year-old youth and another minor as alleged perpetrators of an attempted homicide crime.

According to Mossos d’Esquadra sources, the boy of legal age has gone to court this Monday morning and the decision of the Gandesa duty investigating judge is still unknown. On his part, the arrested minor has entered a juvenile center.
