The Mas Josep campsite in Santa Cristina d’Aro (Baix Empordà ) has installed more security cameras on the premises, after several clients have reported a rise in thefts in their caravans. According to the accommodation management, they have had the same security company for twenty years and they regret that in some cases the workers have been accused of having committed one of the thefts.
The management acknowledges that “some occasional thefts have been taking place for years”, but ensures that whenever an infringement is detected, the persons responsible are fired. In this line, it is recalled that the campsite has around a thousand plots and that “approximately 29,000 people pass through the facilities each year”.
The clients of the campsite have explained that they suffer robberies inside the caravans. These take place from Monday to Thursday, when they are away, and they detect thefts and damage when they are away on the weekend.
For its part, the management assures that after this boom in robberies they have increased security on the premises and that some people installed in the campsite and those they have suspicions in relation to the case are being controlled. In addition, it is noted in the same statement that “you cannot act exercising the right of admission, until you have reliable evidence.”
According to the management, clients have been offered to leave the campsite and return the tax corresponding to the remaining period, but no one has accepted and they have preferred to keep the plot.
