A man has been sentenced to thirteen years in prison by the Alicante Court for abusing two minors, both sisters, with whose family he had shared a residence in the Alicante municipality of Callosa d’En Sarrià.
The Third Section court, which judged the facts on May 22, considers him responsible for two continuous crimes of sexual abuse committed against children under 13 years of age and imposes sentences of nine years and one day in prison and four years and one day in prison. one day, respectively.
The episodes of abuse occurred in different seasons. Specifically, the judgment believes it has been proven that the 47-year-old defendant abused the first of the minors between October 2012 and the same month of 2014, from when the victim was 9 years old until he turned 11.
Similarly, the judicial resolution specifies that the defendant also abused the sister of the first victim between 2018 and June 2021, when the minor was between 6 and 10 years old.
The defendant, an Ecuadorian national, denied the abuses in his statement at trial, although he did acknowledge that he had lived with the victims’ family for ten years by maintaining a distant relationship with their father.
The court, however, confers credibility on the minors by verifying that their story was persistent throughout the investigation and that they did not act motivated by causes of enmity.
Thus, apart from the sentences of deprivation of liberty, the sentence adds the prohibition measure to approach the victims at a distance of less than 300 meters for 19 and 16 years. Finally, it establishes the obligation to compensate them in the amounts of 20,000 and 8,000 euros, respectively.
The ruling is appealable before the Superior Court of Justice of the Community (TSJCV).
