Drew Barrymore is very angry with some of the media, specifically the tabloids, and has not hesitated to point them out publicly. Barrymore gave an interview to The New York Magazine that has sparked controversy. As she has explained through a video of her on her Instagram account, the actress assures that she has misrepresented her words and that she does not want the death of her mother, as they have published during the last hours.

It is not the first time that the interpreter of E.T. the alien explains the complicated childhood he had, partly because of his mother. For all this, Barrymore ended up in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers at age 12, and at 14 he decided to emancipate himself. However, he assures that he would never ever have such a wish and has clarified his words.

All the controversy began with his interview a few days ago in the American media. In his statements, he claimed to be jealous of his friends who had already lost his mother. “All of her mothers have died, and my mother hasn’t. And I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t have that luxury. But I can’t wait,'” the actress said.

This is the phrase that has grabbed all the headlines that ensure that Barrymore wants his mother dead. However, she herself was in charge of qualifying her words a few seconds later: “I don’t want to live in a state where I want someone to leave sooner than they should so that I can grow. In fact, I want them to be happy, prosper and be healthy. But, for my part, I have to grow even though she is still on the face of the Earth.” A clarification that, according to her, the media have overlooked.

With all this, Drew Barrymore has published a video on social networks to finish clarifying everything that happened and titles it as: “For all of you tabloids.” In this, the actress has been very harsh with the media that, according to her, have “distorted her words” about her and has assured that they have been tormenting her since she was little. “You know what? I’m telling all the tabloids: you’ve been fucking up my life since I was 13 years old,” Barrymore said.

“I have never said that I wish my mother was dead. How dare you put those words in my mouth?”, she wanted to clarify, visibly angry. But that’s not all. The producer has continued to speak and has stated that she has spent her entire life trying to “unravel” the difficult relationship she has with her mother and she has felt “very vulnerable”.

Drew Barrymore has always been very hurtful to remember her childhood, but she has never hesitated when speaking to the press. The actress is used to appearing on television sets, since she is part of her work. However, she is not willing to accept things that she does not think: “I have never said it and I would never say it. It’s crazy.”

But if something is clear, it is that the American has always had a complicated life and that she will not forget the hard times she has gone through. “I would go to nightclubs, I would skip school, and sometimes I would steal my mother’s car … it was out of control,” the actress said on The Howard Stern Show a few years ago.
