Two men on a motorcycle stole a 30,000-euro watch yesterday, hitting an elderly man with a gun on a street in the Chamartín district of Madrid, a spokeswoman for the Madrid Police Headquarters has informed Europa Press.

The assault took place yesterday at 2:40 p.m. on Juan Hurtado de Mendoza street. Two men aboard a motorcycle arrived at the scene and approached the victim, hitting him on the head with a firearm, which is still unknown if it was simulated, snatching the Audemars Piguet brand watch, valued at 30,000 euros, which she wore on her wrist.

At that time, a national policeman on civilian service was at the scene, who managed to arrest one of the thieves, thanks to the help of several passers-by, who immobilized him. The other offender managed to flee on a motorcycle. The detainee is a 27-year-old Venezuelan with no criminal record. Judicial police officers are looking for the escapee.

The victim was treated by toilets from the Samur-Civil Protection for a breach in the head. The man was taken by ambulance to a medical center to saturate his injuries, which are not serious, says a Madrid Emergencies spokeswoman.
