The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia has communicated provisional detention, communicated and without bail for the detainee for the murder of his partner last Sunday in the town of Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona).
The 34-year-old man was arrested that same Sunday as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of his partner, a 39-year-old woman, and has gone to court this Tuesday. The TSJC has also communicated the suspension of parental authority over the child in common and the prohibition to communicate with him.
The event, which has shocked the town of Baix Llobregat, took place at dawn, when the detainee allegedly stabbed his partner to death, on a floor of the building located at number 23 Cornellà Modern street, in the presence of their son , two years old.
When this macho crime became known, the Cornellà de Llobregat City Council decreed three days of official mourning in the municipality and suspended the events organized for the Corpus Christi festivities, which were held this past weekend.
With this new case of sexist violence, the number of women murdered by their partners or ex-partners rises to 22 in 2023 and 1,206 fatalities since 2003, when the statistics began. In addition, there are 23 minors orphaned by sexist violence this year.
