The PSC and Molins en Comú Podem announced a government pact on Tuesday that will allow the candidate with the most votes, the socialist Xavi Paz, to continue as mayor of Molins de Rei. During much of the last legislature, Paz governed with Junts per Molins. He had previously reached agreements with CiU.

The socio-common entente, usual in other towns of Baix Llobregat such as Viladecans, Cornellà or El Prat de Llobregat, is very rare in Molins de Rei. In this way, two historically opposed political spaces are reconciled in a local way.

“We are satisfied with the broad coincidence of the proposals that we have collected”, said the acting mayor. “In everything that we do not fully agree with, we have explored the paths of consensus and sought formulas so that both forces are happy”, added Xavi Paz.

The Molins candidate in Comú Podem, Lucas Ferro, has said that the agreement puts them to “work for Molins de Rei” and that it reflects “the best of the two formations to put themselves at the service of the citizenry”. “We open a new stage of change and transformation”, added the current deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia.

If he complies with what he said months ago, upon entering the municipal government Ferro will leave Parliament to focus on the management of the City Council. The two parties have explained that one of the central aspects of the legislature will be the improvement of public space, now degraded in some areas of the municipality.
